Dr Pepper Brownies Ingredients

You will need:

  • 1 box milk chocolate brownie mix
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup Dr Pepper
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Substitutions and Additions

DR PEPPER: Add a hint of cherry in your brownies with cherry Dr Pepper instead of regular.

TOPPINGS: You can go as simple as a dusting of powdered sugar or as fancy as a scoop of ice cream and hot fudge on top of these decadent brownies.

CHOCOLATE CHIPS: Instead of semi-sweet chocolate chips, you could try a different type of chips such as white chocolate, peanut butter, or even larger chocolate chunks.

How to Make Dr Pepper Brownies

STEP ONE: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9 x 9-inch non-stick baking pan with parchment paper.

PRO TIP: Lining the pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil will allow you to lift the entire baked brownies out of the pan for easier cutting once cooled. You can also grease the pan instead.

STEP TWO: In a large mixing bowl, combine brownie mix, eggs, vegetable oil, Dr Pepper, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and vanilla extract. Mix together well.

PRO TIP: Don’t follow the instructions on the cake mix box regarding additional ingredients. We have replaced those here with eggs, oil, and Dr Pepper.

Here’s a fabulous baker’s secret: Coating the chocolate chips in flour before folding them into the batter will prevent them from sinking to the bottom of your brownies. They will remain suspended in the batter while baking.

STEP THREE: Pour into the prepared baking pan.

STEP FOUR: Bake for 32 minutes or until a toothpick comes out almost clean.

STEP FIVE: Let brownies cool.

STEP SIX: Remove from the pan using the parchment paper and slice before serving.

How to Serve Dr Pepper Brownies

Take this ultimate homemade brownie recipe to the next level by adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of hot fudge sauce, and a dollop of whipped cream on top. Serve your Dr. Pepper Brownies fresh from the oven or enjoy them at room temperature with a cup of coffee, a cold glass of milk, or some homemade hot chocolate.

Storage

AT ROOM TEMPERATURE: Store cut brownie squares in an airtight container at room temperature, they’re best eaten within 1 to 2 days.

IN THE FREEZER: A whole pan’s worth of this Dr Pepper brownies recipe, uncut and well wrapped in plastic, will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months. Cut into squares before serving.

Dr Pepper brownies are the best brownies to satisfy your chocolate craving. These super moist homemade brownies are so yummy that you may want to eat the whole pan. Perfect for a quick dessert these brownies are loaded with chocolate and Dr Pepper and are always a huge hit with friends and family.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I use diet Dr Pepper for this recipe?

We don’t recommend using the diet version of Dr Pepper as it will change the flavor of the brownies.

Can I use my own homemade brownies recipe for these brownies?

The boxed brownie mix makes this recipe very easy, but if you prefer to make your own brownies, you can. Dr Pepper replaces the water in the boxed brownie mix, so make sure you replace an equivalent liquid in your homemade brownies with Dr Pepper.

Do I have to refrigerate these brownies?

You can store your brownies on the counter for 1 to 2 days or in the freezer for 3 months.
