Pink Drink Ingredients

You will need:

  • 2 Tazo “Passion” tea bags, or any hibiscus tea
  • ½ cup white grape juice
  • ½ cup water
  • Ice cubes
  • ½ cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • ¼ cup freeze-dried strawberries, or sliced fresh strawberries
  • Simple syrup, for optional sweetening

Substitutions and Additions

TEA: The flavor of the tea is actually hibiscus. There are several brands of hibiscus tea on the market if you cannot find the Tazo brand and you can use any of them in this refreshing drink.

COCONUT MILK: We used unsweetened coconut milk in this copycat pink drink recipe. The finished drink gets its sweetness from the white grape juice, and this combination is closest to the original Starbucks version of the pink drink. For more sweetness, add simple syrup or try sweetened coconut milk.

MILK: While the original version uses coconut milk, you can change it up if you prefer almond milk or soy milk in this simple recipe.

SIMPLE SYRUP: I like to keep a premade simple syrup in my cupboard to use for a number of drinks. You can easily find it at any liquor store. You can make your own by combining equal parts of water and granulated sugar in a small saucepan. You will heat it just until the sugar dissolves (do not boil it), then allow it to cool completely before use. It can be stored in a lidded mason jar for up to 1 month in the refrigerator.

How to Make Pink Drink

PRO TIP: Double or triple the recipe to make a pitcher of pink drink if you are planning to serve a crowd rather than making individual servings of the drink.

STEP ONE: Place one tea bag into a glass of white grape juice (1 tea bag will work for up to 1 cup of juice or 2 servings) and allow the juice to steep until bright pink.

PRO TIP: The Tazo passion tea provides that amazing signature pink color. Steeping the teabag in the grape juice will help achieve a nice pink color throughout your drink since the grape juice tends to have a yellow tint.

STEP TWO: Place the second tea bag in a glass of water (1 tea bag will brew up to 8 ounces of water or 2 servings) and steep for 3 to 5 minutes, until deep pink.

PRO TIP: Water does not have to be hot to steep the tea. If you use hot water, ensure the brewed tea is completely cooled before pouring over the ice to make the drink.

STEP THREE: Fill a 12-ounce glass with ice.

STEP FOUR: Add ½ cup of juice and ½ cup of tea.

STEP FIVE: Top with coconut milk and stir to combine.

STEP SIX: Add a handful of freeze-dried strawberries or fresh sliced strawberries.

STEP SEVEN: Sweeten with simple syrup, if desired.

STEP EIGHT: Serve.

How to Serve Pink Drink

You’ll be sipping on your homemade pink drink long before you could have driven to the coffee shop to pick one up. A copycat version of the Starbucks classic, this delightful pink drink recipe is made with creamy coconut milk, hibiscus tea, and a sweet strawberry flavor. Enjoy this cold strawberry pink drink recipe along with a coffee shop inspired muffin or pastry.

Storage

IN THE FRIDGE: The pink drink will separate over time. Though it can be re-stirred, it’s best to mix and drink at once rather than preparing it ahead of time and storing it in the fridge.

IN THE FREEZER: We do not recommend trying to freeze any components of this drink. It is best made fresh.

Pink Drink is creamy, refreshing, and packed with sweet strawberry flavor. With its luscious color, it’s easy to whip up this Starbucks flavor at home with only a handful of ingredients. If you find yourself craving this delightful pink drink, this recipe is a must-try.

This copycat Starbucks pink drink recipe doesn’t keep well so we recommend making it when you are ready to enjoy it.

While it may change the taste of the drink slightly, if you prefer to use a different milk to add the creamy component of the drink, you certainly can.
