  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder, divided
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1¾ cups hot water

Substitutions and Additions

NUTS: You can add chopped nuts to the batter along with the chocolate chips for extra crunch. Or if you prefer, simply sprinkle some over the top once the cake is baked. 

How to Make Hot Fudge Sundae Cake

STEP ONE: Preheat the oven to 350°F.

STEP TWO: In an 8 x 8 glass baking dish, mix together the flour, ¼ cup cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and baking powder.

STEP THREE: Mix in the milk, butter, and vanilla extract until a thick batter forms.
