Red Wine Chocolate Cake is an incredibly moist chocolate cake. Its rich chocolate flavor is enhanced by the red wine, and the glaze on top is the perfect finish.

Ingredients
  

Cake

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • cups flour
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • cups red wine

Glaze

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ cup red wine

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and spray a bundt pan with nonstick spray.
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together the butter, white sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla.
  • Add the eggs one at a time and mix until creamy.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the dry ingredients. Slowly add the mixture to the wet ingredients.
  • Pour in the red wine and mix the chocolate cake batter until smooth.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool before removing it from the pan.
  • Melt the butter and chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Whisk in the powdered sugar and red wine. Pour glaze over the top of the cake and serve.

Notes

Oven temperatures vary and may need to be recalibrated periodically to ensure they are accurate. Make sure to check your cake at the lower end of the recommended baking time.
Place your cake on a cooling rack before pouring the glaze over top so that it doesn't puddle around the base of the cake.
